The National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 emphasises quality education by promoting flexibility, creativity and innovation in teaching-learning. The National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) for Teachers will provide platforms for professionals and experts where they can share knowledge, skills and expertise as a Mentor with Mentee teachers and help them in their journey to become effective teachers. The Bluebook on NMM provides a holistic understanding of mentoring right from the concept of mentoring to the implementation of the mentoring programme.
I congratulate NCTE for this collaborative exercise in conceptualising and coming forward with the Bluebook on NMM.
Best Wishes

Chairperson, NCTE
Based on the directive from National Education Policy (NEP 2020) "to provide short and long-term mentoring/professional support" to teachers, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) designed and launched the National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) (Para 15.11.). The role of mentoring in teachers' professional development and growth is well-researched. Scholarly work on mentoring suggests that mentoring programs have a significant impact on student engagement and accomplishment. Mentoring promotes job satisfaction, which in turn helps in teacher retention. This eagerly expected initiative empowers educators while also enhancing the quality of education. Teachers can now create community of practices and collaborative networks by using the platform that NMM offers. The Bluebook provides thorough program standards in addition to serving as a reference for the concept of mentoring.
Best Wishes
